Balcony Skies

This collection of paintings
originated from a beautiful morning ritual of observing the view from our balcony each day. Paying close attention to any changes and the weather. This small act of slowing down, observing nature, and witnessing the seasons pass by is a wonderful experience; a quiet moment in the wild.
Living in the French Alps we are lucky to have mountain views, dramatic seasons and ever-changing skies.
New paintings will be added to the collection, as I continue pausing and weather-watching.

Enjoying the moment when the clouds begin to clear, you can see the valley below, as patches of blue appear. Sensitive in its subtle colour shifts, with pops of contrasting orange and blue.

After a misty start to the day, the clouds parted and striking shapes could be found in the in-between spaces. This painting explores those in-between spaces by contrasting layers of loose wild marks and solid blocks of colour.
